Creating in Times of COVID

Updated: Apr 19, 2022

I've heard a lot of artists unsure of how to make work during the Covid-19 pandemic. It seems that people are feeling very stagnant and self-serving by continuing to make the art that they want to make when there are so many more things going on in the world around them. We should address this. It can be hard to pursue artwork at a time like this, however, it is so so important to continue creating. As an artist, I've noticed that our work has the potential to speak volumes about the world around us. It is the context of who we are that makes the work have a deeper meaning.

So if you are feeling alone, find a way to visually represent that, If you are feeling absent show us how you feel. If you are like me and often struggle with feelings of being unknown or lonely, use this time to let your voice be heard. There are a lot of really negative things that are happening in response to this global pandemic, but you still have the opportunity to enact change in the world around you right from your home. Even if it is not your best work, it is vital to keep creating and thinking especially when it is so easy to zone out. Let your voice be heard, and stay in touch with your creative side. I want to see whatever you are making :)
